Hair is an essential part of a woman’s persona. Be it the loss or thinning of hair, it is important to treat the condition. We at the Dr. Saraswat’s Skin and Hair Clinics can help you with it. Female hair transplant is a technique that can help restore and transplant hair to women.
Same as the condition with men, the women too can face lower self-confidence with hair loss. According to several researches, there has been a rise in the number of women undertaking surgery. Although the condition among women differs much as compared to men. Hair loss in men is basically caused due to genetic factors, while in women, it can be caused due to other factors as well. These factors include menopause, low thyroid or iron levels, hormonal imbalances, among various others.
The procedure to be followed in women is similar to other hair transplants. It could be achieved by either of the two main methods – follicular unit transplant (FUT) or follicular unit extraction (FUE).
In the former, a strip of tissue is harvested from the back of the head where there is full growth of hair, and transplanted to the recipient area. In the latter, each hair from the donor area is streteigically harvested to be transplanted into the recipient area.
Pros and Cons:
Since FUT requires a strip to be harvested from the donor area (usually from the back of your head), it will leave a scar at the donor area, while FUE leaves no such scars behind. However, the cost varies between the two.
Other concerns women face is whether the hair needs to be shaved during the transplant procedure. It should not be much a concern. The hair in the recipient area needs no shaving at all, while only limited amount of hair trimmed on the donor site, which can easily be hidden from the remaining of your hair.
